This post will cover the figures of September 2009 most worthy of getting another mention. The best, the worst, and the most interesting. There will be a custom category in most places for the figure most-deserving it, and you shouldn’t count or bet on seeing the same categories appear again.
If you’re wondering why there’s no “Figure Friday” this week it’s because even on a preliminary check, only 6 figures caught my eyes, and it doesn’t seem too crazy they can’t wait another week. So next week will have a big post covering two weeks’ worth of figures.

Best Ikkitousen Figure of the Month:
Ikkitousen (Dragon Destiny) Ryomou Shimei Shunya Yamashita Ver. 1/6 PVC figure by Daiki Kougyou
September 18th-24th post.
Because Ikkitousen gets such an awful treatment from Taki Corporation, I thought it’d be only fair to mention when they actually get a nice figure, if an expensive one.

Best Elf of the Month:
Lineage II Elf 1/7 PVC figure by Orchidseed
September 18th-24th post.
This wasn’t even a contest. Best elf I’ve seen in I dunno how long. Gentle face, very nicely detailed lace-work, and a golden bracelet to cover the arm-gap.
December 2009, 227mm, 7,429 yen. Reserve.

Alter’s Saber Alter Maid Ver.
September 18th-24th post.
Saber, maid, chibi, diorama base. What more needs to be said?
Reservations until November 10th, 2010, figure will release in April 2010, 8,000 yen. Will have to use deputy service. Hobby Channel site exclusive.
Best Tailed Figures of the Month:
Tony Taka original characters Nekomimi Maid 1/6 PVC figure by E☆2 (Etsu)
September 25th-October 1st post.
Tony Taka, maid, nekomimi. Even though you can only really enjoy them from limited angles.
14,800 yen with tax for both, March 2010, 260mm. Get them from Etsu.
Best Cast-offable Figure of the Month:
Toushin Toshi III Moe Collect Plus 15 Hazumi Flame 1/7 PVC figure by Volks M.O.E.
September 11th-17th post.
The hardest thing to believe about this figure, after seeing that it comes from Volks, is that it’s a PVC figure, and not a Garage Kit. What makes it good is that it looks good, both with her clothes and without. So you actually get two real options with it. And she looks sweet, rather than too exploitative, without the clothes.
Winter 2009, 220mm, 7,500 yen. Volks Web Store exclusive; preorders taken since August 25th. You’ll need to use deputy services.
Worst Overpriced Non-Figure of the Month:
Daiki Gel Vol.1 Soft Clear Green by Daiki Kougyou
September 11th-17th post.
Limited, 3,000 yen, for a bunch of goo. Totally overpriced. And apparently you might be able to get this in additional colours in the future. I don’t know. Maybe if it were $10?

Worst Rei Ayanami Face of the Month:
Evangelion Ayanami Rei BMX trick Ver. 1/12 PVC figure by Kotobukiya
September 11th-17th post.
This is not a new release, but a re-release. And as a sworn Ayanami Rei fan, I don’t know what to say about the horrible thing they’ve done to her here…
December 2009, 150mm, 4,200 yen (1/12 scale figure!). Reserve.
Worst What Were They Thinking?! Figure of the Month:
Saiminjutsu 2 Sakurai Sawa non-scale PVC figure by Pleasant Angels
September 4th-10th post.
This is one figure where I don’t really know what to tell you… Seriously.
2009 release, price unknown, cast-offable, created by Black Rainbow.
Worst Ikkitousen Figure of the Month:
Ikkitousen (Dragon Destiny) Kanu Unchou School Swimsuit Ver. 1/8 PVC figure by Taki corporation
September 18th-24th post.
This was a truly hard decision, as each of these figures is bad for different reasons. And while the figure I chose may not be the worst, technically, it’s one I find overall least-appealing. She just is wholly uninspiring, and has a faint aura of “I must go to the restroom!” Also, her clothes are ill-fitting. Exactly what I don’t want from a cast-offable figure. I think no one is surprised it’s a Taki Corporation figure, right?

If only that Saber Maid pose wasn’t so similar to their first one. The body and legs are about the same position. It’s just the arms and head that are different. Thank goodness it’s not a standard release, otherwise I would have bought it anyway.
It’s spectacular. That lovely thighs meet main-body area is so lovely… and I don’t have the previous release.
Also, it comes with the chibi :)

Alter’s Saber Maid ver. is yumm and I am lost for words with that Sakurai Sawa figure too *facepalm*
Heh, chibi maid Saber is pretty sweet.
Now if only there was a way to get her without having to buy the big thing that comes with it.
Maybe team up with someone. You pay $15 say, for the chibi, and they pay cost-$15, or whatever, for the full figure.
I reckon the petit Saber maid will be the key point in attracting buyers.
I’m just happy I’m not a Saber fanboy or I will be broke. :(

I need to reach a decision. But basically it’s either this or Saber Lily Distant Avalon, and that’s a really tough competition!

The best figure of the month and in recent times I think is that Lineage II Elf 1/7 PVC figure by Orchidseed. Amazing craftsmanship and detail, and just soooooo pretty. That’s the one I want the most on the list anyway.
